We just had our house painted! I’m so thrilled with how it turned out – we have lived in this house nearly eight years and I have wanted to repaint since the first day we looked at the house. SO happy we finally got it done! Our welcome mat was looking super ragged anyway, but with the fresh new paint, it looked downright ghetto. I was going to pitch it in the trash, but then decided, why not just paint it? The kids and I sat down one morning after breakfast and decided to upgrade the door mat! So here’s my DIY Painted Door Mat in case you want to try it.
First of all, here is the sad before picture of my welcome mat. Not exactly welcoming.
I just grabbed a few of my favorite acrylic craft paint colors and we went to town! We just painted the top surface, without getting too detailed. After all, it’s probably not going to last forever, but we can hold onto it a little longer!
And look how bright and cheerful it is now! This is after a coat of matte acrylic spray sealer. You can see where we got a little sloppy in a couple of places, but…meh. It’s fine. Doing a little easy project like this with the kids is pretty much my favorite thing to do. The little arrow details we painted on are probably my favorite part of this!
Don’t be afraid to try something new!
