Guess who’s 21 now? This chick!
Guess who has a 21-year-old daughter, along with her other four littles? ME! Man, I feel old!
I don’t even like cake, but birthdays kind of call for it, right? I decided to pay a visit to The Bundt Shoppe where my friend Liz works. Their bundt cakes are outstanding! And their shop has all kinds of cute stuff. I even found a perfect little gift for Kayley. If you happen to be in Denver, you should check them out for sure.
I’ve been wanting to do one of those darling garland/banner-style cake toppers I keep seeing everywhere, and I was pretty giddy when I got to try out this awesome Sizzix die designed by my friend Jo Packham, who in addition to being a little ol’ licensed designer for Sizzix, also has her own publishing company, has authored more than 40 books, and is editor-in-chief of the magazines Where Women Cook, Where Women Create, and Where Women Create Business. Role model for women everywhere and badass in general? Yeah, that’s Jo. Her entire collection with Sizzix is hella cute and you should check it out. Here is the cute little die I used with my die cut machine to create a cake topper for Kayley’s cake – if you’d like to pick up one for yourself, it’s the Sizzix Birthday Wishes Cake Topper Thinlits Die and you can order it right here.
I cut the words out of two different ADORNit papers, also from Jo Packham’s Where Women Cook collection, and tied them to paper straws with thread. I have to say, this cake came out painfully cute, with hardly any effort. Also, how delicious does that look? Banana with chocolate chip. You should try it.
Some of my favorite designers are featuring projects using Jo Packham’s Where Women Cook collection, and you should check them all out!
