This weekend was spent doing major spring cleaning in the backyard, and I kept thinking about fun ways to spruce up the deck and patio for warm weather. We have a walkout basement with a gorgeous yard, but most of my outdoor time is spent on our deck which is upstairs, just off the kitchen. It’s itty bitty, but it’s cute! These beaded Mason Jar candle holders look great with some cozy little chairs – it’s all good in the ‘hood. Here’s how I made them.
I wanted something weather resistant to hold some candles, so I decided embellished mason jars would be fun! I had two wide-mouthed mason jars under my kitchen cabinet that seemed like a good size. I tend to just use whatever I have on hand because I love making fun stuff out of what’s already in my house. I also grabbed some floral wire, burlap, and a handful of glass beads.
I snipped a length of the wire long enough to wrap a couple of times around my jar, and started threading beads on. I like to fold the wire in half and insert both wires through larger beads and just one wire through smaller beads. I twisted the wire between each bead.
Next I cut a strip of burlap and tied it around my jar. I wrapped my wire around the burlap and then twisted it into place.
I thought I was done, but then I decided it would be cute to add some metal stamped tags, so I dug out the Impress Art stamps and pounded out a couple of cute words.
I just added these onto the wire and beads with a separate little piece of wire. I keep thinking it would be so cute to make wine charms, but I never have. You should! Let me know how they turn out.
Here are my finished candle jars – I love them! I found little scented candles that work perfectly and smell just like mango, but I probably will replace them with LED candles from World Market – I love those because you can set the timer to have them turn on from like 5 to 10 every night. Add a nice little bohemian glow to your deck or patio!
