Okay, guess what? Tomorrow is National Chocolate Chip Day! I love me some chocolate chip cookies, but I wanted to share a super fast, super easy, super AWESOME recipe for something a little different! Magic Shell inspired ice cream topping! You know, the stuff that instantly freezes on ice cream, creating a hard shell of chocolatey goodness? YES. I’m going to show you how to make it in less than five minutes with just two ingredients! Ready?
Here are the ingredients: Chocolate Chips, naturally! And… coconut oil! Is there anything coconut oil can’t do? It’s good for your hair. It’s great in your coffee. Hell, it’s giving me a pedicure right now. Okay, not really. But anyway – I made my own homemade Magic Shell in like two seconds, and it was so super simple.
You will need:
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (this works out to one small bag, minus the three you eat when you open it.)
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
Combine these ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir, melt, stir, melt. The whole thing can be done in like, one commercial break.
Pour over ice cream and enjoy!
This will keep at room temperature indefinitely – although you’ll probably want to shake/stir it up before using it each time. I put mine in a cute mason jar, hoping the mouth of the jar is wide enough that we can dip little ice cream cones in it. I don’t know, though, that might be pushing it. Maybe I should’ve used a bigger jar!
What a cute gift, though! I used one of my personalized Expressionery stamps to create a fun little tag.
You can even package it up cute with a ribbon! I think this would make a great addition to a gift basket, with some bowls and sprinkles and definitely some Reddi-Wip.
