I love the whole concept of Ugly Christmas Sweaters. I feel like I’ve earned the right to wear them ironically, proudly celebrating their tackiness – because as someone who worked in an office and dressed “business casual” during the 90s, I actually wore holiday-themed sweaters the first time around and thought I looked completely adorable. Yep. The 90s were a crazy time. Kick back some Friday night with a little Nick at Night and watch a Full House marathon, and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.
My oldest daughter Kayley, who was actually born in the 90s, works for a daycare center and will soon be leading a giggly group of preschoolers in what will surely be an adorably moving Christmas pageant. Naturally, she needs an epic Christmas sweater for
this occasion, so mommy made her one.
I found a really cute sweater dress at Gap and adorned it with a felt tree and lots of buttons, yarn, and trim, using Aleene’s Quick Dry Fabric Fusion. That stuff is as magical as St. Nick himself.
Here’s how it turned out. So cute! I can’t wait to see Kayley in it with some cute tights and boots.
Here’s another SUPER CUTE Ugly Sweater project – Ugly Christmas Sweater Cookies! As you can see, these neat little kits cost next to nothing, and include practically everything you need to make ugly sweater cookies! Just add your favorite sugar cookie recipe. I picked up a bunch of them to add to gift baskets and funny little teacher gifts.
One of my cookies broke and I had to glue it back together with frosting. MOAR FROSTING! Is it super obvious?
How much fun would these be to decorate at an ugly sweater party with your favorite ladies and your favorite bottle of wine?
