  • I love this store and these people and their story and basically everything they do. I already adored them and then I saw in their IG stories how they dealt with losing their entire trade show booth at the national stationery show. They just made the absolute best out of a nightmare situation, creating a beautiful booth out of magic and gum wrappers and elbow grease. They're only an hour south of me and I plan to take a trip down there this summer to get goodies for everyone I love. Go give them lots of support! Yes, we are a business. We make things. We sell things. We participate in capitalism. But this is what it’s all about, y’all: In the last 24 hours, I’ve had two interactions with different mothers in our shop who were weeping tears of joy as we discussed the status of their children’s transitions. One had just found out that her 9-year-old daughter’s name change had become officially legal 5 minutes ago and our shop was the first place she came to celebrate. She was shaking with tears of joy as she told me the news–she hadn’t even told her daughter that the letter had come in the mail and was looking for items to adorn the announcement. The second was a mother who was just notified that her kid is now using they/them pronouns and was looking for education and direction about how to be a better ally. Patience. Acceptance. Tolerance. Love. This is what the LGBTQ+ community has fought for and is what we carry in our hearts in this month of Pride and everyday. However you choose to celebrate it is up to you. Maybe it’s buying a card or wearing a pin to show your love and support. Maybe it’s spending time with someone who needs a kind and patient ear. Maybe it’s educating yourself about how you can be a better ally. Maybe it’s finding the courage to come out and be who you are. Pride is for everybody, and we wish you all a happy and healthy month of celebrating what makes us all unique.
