Spring cleaning is upon us, folks. That smell in the air isn’t daffodils blooming – it’s stinky old snow boots and closed up bedrooms that haven’t had a whiff of fresh air in months! My kids just wrapped up spring break, which was super packed with springtime stuff: yardwork, bike rides, and of course…lots of organization and cleaning! We worked hard and we played hard, and here’s how that turned out.
First of all, I had to drag my kids out into the glorious Colorado sunshine, because all they wanted to do was watch Netflix and listen to music. I did let them have a day or two to relax, because honestly, I needed some downtime too. Here’s Mallory cuddled up with our chiweenie, pretending to be asleep so I don’t ask her to fold the laundry.
And here is Mallory’s bathroom counter, which hasn’t been cleared off in MONTHS. I get in there and swish around the sink pretty often, but getting her to move her stuff is next to impossible. She takes great care in finding just the right spot for every single lipgloss, hair tie, and earring – on the countertop. I really don’t get this, because she has more bathroom storage than I do in my own bathroom. All those drawers were pretty much empty. Go figure.
I decided to take matters into my own hands and clear everything out of the space, so I could get it all squeaky clean. I’m not exaggerating when I say it simultaneously looked better and worse. All that space! But…all that hair! Everything was sort of shellacked with a fine coat of hairspray and dust, accented by splotches of toothpaste and hard water deposits. It was time to bring in the big guns. I headed to Walmart.
This is what I have used to clean bathrooms since I had my very first place: Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner! I love that there is a whole variety of Scrubbing Bubbles® products now, but I stick with the old standby, the aerosol foaming bathroom cleaner. Here it is!
I’ve tried lots of different stuff over the years, especially when I discovered Pinterest and became obsessed with all the cleaning hacks and tips, but I always end up using Disinfectant Scrubbing Bubbles® Bathroom Cleaner for two main reasons: it smells nice, and you can hold the can practically upside down and get it where you need it.
Scrubbing Bubbles® made short work of Mallory’s countertop of crud – I just sprayed it on and waited a few minutes, and then wiped it all down with a microfiber cloth and warm water. I can’t believe how shiny her sink turned out! We couldn’t stop laughing because the difference was so startling. I didn’t expect the hard water deposits to just disappear, but they did. Behold:
After her bathroom was completely clean and sparkly, Mallory moved her stuff back in – and I did convince her to try out those drawers! Have we turned over a new leaf? Perhaps we have. For now, I’m happy that I can see another third of her bathroom counter.
Bathrooms are clean! For a day or two, anyway. Having two sets of twins can make for a gigantic mess, but after the work is done, we get to play! Here’s my gang up on the mountain enjoying spring skiing!
I hope you’re enjoying springtime as much as we are!
