Here is the project that my hubby Paul and I have been pouring ourselves into: the Girl Scout Cookie DJ Booth – three daughters in Girl Scouts = LOTS OF COOKIE SALES! Yes, it’s Girl Scout Cookie time, and you’ve no doubt seen little uniformed girls set up outside supermarkets and pulling wagons through neighborhoods, trying to fulfill the world’s need for Thin Mints. This was the scene on Day One of Cookie Sales for my bestie Laura and me, as our daughters hit the streets in our neighborhood to earn money for camp.
Booth Sales began a couple of weeks ago, and we decided to kick up the fun factor for these girls and help them draw lots of attention to their cookie booth. My husband and I got some input from the girls on what they thought would make a great booth, and then we set to work, figuring out how to construct a lightweight, easily portable, completely amazing cookie/DJ booth that we could set up and take down in minutes, so that we could set up shop quickly for our scheduled booth times. Naturally, we turned to our favorite medium, cardboard and hot glue! All those Girl Scout cookie boxes came in pretty handy in constructing the body of our booth.
We used these boxes, wrapped around a lightweight wooden frame, to construct our booth. The sides, front, and top all come apart in separate sections for ease of storage and transport. And the whole thing does indeed come together, lickety split, in about two minutes.
Every DJ booth needs a disco ball, right? But a Girl Scout Cookie DJ Booth needs a disco ball that looks like a COOKIE! We decided to make a giant mirrored Samoa. One styrofoam disc, a few hundred mirror tiles, and lots of hot glue later, this is what we ended up with. SO RAD! We used a real mirror ball motor, along with several inexpensive DJ lights.
The front of our booth is made of upcycled plexiglass, which we previously used in constructing our Pirate Ship DJ booth when my husband DJ’d the Monster Mash Halloween dance at the elementary school a couple of years ago. We throw nothing away, man. We scrubbed away the portholes and boards and repainted it with our troop number. The disco lights mounted inside the booth shined beautifully through the opaque material!
And, drumroll please…here are pics of our finished booth. What a showstopper! We received so many compliments on our super cool booth. My favorite ones were from the little girls who said they couldn’t wait to be Girl Scouts one day!
This video clip was taken by a generous supporter who packed an entire case of Thin Mints into the saddlebags of his Harley – thanks Francois!
So dope had to come get a box or 5 at Cookie DJ Booth at Bistro Alvino’s at Parker Rd & Orchard…4pm to 8pm Today

This Girl Scout Cookie DJ Booth project has been such a blast for all of the girls and the parents too! We’ve all had fun working together helping our girls to reach their goal of selling 2,000 boxes of cookies. Many thanks to our family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, coworkers, and the business owners in our neighborhood for supporting Girl Scouts! Sales will continue through early March!
