Recently, my friend Laura Kelly and I hosted a Crafty Happy Hour event at one of our favorite local watering holes here in Aurora, Bistro Al Vino. This was the third Crafty Happy Hour event Laura organized, and I think it was by far the biggest and best! We had close to forty people in attendance, assembling and decorating cards and other fun crafty make-and-takes.
Local crafting events like this are SUCH A BLAST, because almost everybody likes to make stuff, but being crafty and creative is sometimes just a little out of reach for a lot of folks. Not everyone has a closet full of craft supplies at their disposal, so premade kits, ready to be personalized are super fun for all ages. At Crafty Happy Hour, we had tons of card kits available for purchase, along with other fun little gifts. And we also brought along all of the tools, markers, glue, and embellishments for creating the perfect customized cards.
What I like most is seeing so many people I know and love, coming together in friendship and getting their craft on! And any Aurora/Centennial resident will tell you that Bistro Al Vino is has bomb food and great entertainment! Check out this amazing ten layer chocolate cake, garnished with bacon!
I think the people who come to Crafty Happy Hour would say they love making the cards, but the awesome raffle prizes are almost as much fun! Check out this spread from our generous sponsors – we even gave away an Ellison/Sizzix die cut machine to one lucky chick!
And I can’t forget to mention the awesome live music – we had to get out there and shake our booties a little after getting crafty! Here’s a dance floor selfie of Laura and me, along with our friend Angie and the bar’s namesake, Al himself!
SO. MUCH. FUN.
We will be hosting more Crafty Happy Hour events in future months! Follow Laura and me on social media to get the scoop!
