Denver folks: you need to check out Alamo Drafthouse! Pauly and I got to check out their locally inspired menu a few weeks ago and it is fabulous! They feature ingredients from lots of local vendors. We tried the Avery IPA beer battered drumsticks and they were the bomb. And the banana bread pudding was so good, I literally daydreamed about it for a solid week.
Actually, the entire concept of this place is fabulous, but I still haven’t gotten to check it out beyond sampling their food. The movie theater opened almost a year ago, right when I was in the thick of my “woe is me, for my leg is broken” phase of life, so I missed their grand opening event. But check it out – this is a movie theater with fantastic food and tons of craft beers on tap. I was expecting “bar food” like you get at similar venues, but this is quality restaurant fare, and everything is super good. They do first run movies as well as really fun events, such as sing-alongs (with props!) and audience participation classics. And they have super strict rules about texting and talking during the movie – they will throw your ass right out! So no annoying chit chatter sitting behind you. Win!
I can’t wait to get back down there for an ACTUAL DATE NIGHT with my husband!
P.S. If you HURRY, you can snag a Groupon for Alamo Drafthouse for $5 movie tickets! Looks like it ends at Midnight tonight, though!
