My first car.

Friends and I were talking about our first cars today, as some of our kids are getting to be the age where they’re getting THEIR first cars. We shared some pictures, and it’s funny to me how you can tell just about how old we are by seeing our first cars. This is what my first car looked like – well, mine wasn’t this bright and shiny, but it looked exactly like this:

1978 Ford LTD - "The Boat"
1978 Ford LTD – “The Boat”

I was never crazy about that car – those doors seemed like they were four feet long, and the hood stretched out for about a block in front of me. But! We could fit at least eight people inside, and it went really, really fast. Good thing Kayley doesn’t have to drive a car like this – she’d spend every penny she has putting gas in it!

Aaaah the good old days. Mine was my mom’s old Honda Civic that I crashed within the first year and then had to pay for. I loved that little car though.

That’s why you give teenagers shitty cars, right?

  2. Amy says:

I can totally see you, permed hair, blue eyeshadow, liner & mascara, jean jacket and concert t-shirt, metal music blaring, gunning down the road in this thing. 🙂

And I’ll just leave this here to give you a good laugh:

      Haha! Is that a Yugo?

Your description is practically spot-on. I didn’t wear a jean jacket, though. And don’t forget the stonewashed jeans, peg-rolled super tight at the ankle.
